Statistical Learning
Hastie and Tibshirani — two of the people who built the field — teach their own An Introduction to Statistical Learning. Linear models, classification, cross-validation, trees and forests, and unsupervised methods, with labs in R or Python. The textbook is free, the lectures are free, and the statistical point of view is the perfect counterweight to a deep-learning-first education.
